Empty Bowls is a fundraising dinner to benefit Catholic Family Center’s Homeless and Housing department and a community driven effort to end homelessness and hunger using ceramics as the medium for action. The Empty Bowls project strives to create awareness of hunger in our communities.

Since 1990, hundreds of communities have participated in the Empty Bowls project. Hand crafted bowls are donated by local artists and ceramic students to signify the needs that exist in our communities.

Our community’s participation in this event illustrates the collective power we have to fill the bowls of those in need. With the generous donations from local restaurants, this event is a simple dinner of soup, bread, and wine, served in the bowl of the patrons choosing. The proceeds from this event will directly support our women’s homeless shelters.

This project encourages involvement by artists, patrons, and students to embrace the values of understanding, respect and the dignity all deserve. Please see this bowl as a reminder of the empty bowls in our community and your contribution to ending hunger and homelessness.
